Slightly Geeky gaming post
After being back in Aber and remembering how much I enjoyed gaming with certain people I thought I'd suggest something and see what people thought.

A while ago I introduced a few people to Ninja Burger (like Munchkin but with Ninjas) now I'm very tempted to get hold of a copy of the Ninja Burger RPG book and run an online game and see how it goes.

A few of you have more than likely engaged in RPGs before and may love/hate the idea. Some of you may never have but that doesn't matter you can play once and just see how it goes. From my understanding the game rarely turns into an epic campaign like some RPGs do, so there is no need to worry about that.

Give it a thought and let me know what you think.

For me, mostly depends what you mean by "online." I've read the core rules of "Ninja Burger: The Role-Playing Game" and the "Iron Ninja Burger Monkey" expansion, and I'm not sure it'll "work" as a PBEM, for example. Perhaps IRC, though, or some other medium with immediate interaction.

Keep me posted, anyway: could be a good 'un.

PBEM was the format I was thinking about initially, mainly because it may take some people a while to get their heads round some things. IRC I think would be best in the long run but it would mean organising everybody to be online at the same time (and free) which could be tricky.

I'm tempted to send some of the rules out and let people have till Friday to read them and generate a character and having an initial go on irc Friday night.

I've put PDF copies of the rules online, can't link from here (using my phone, and it's a pain) but can do so next time I'm at a real desk - save you typing/copy-pasting or whatever. Friday's a reasonably sensible night of the week, too. You'll probably want to use a bot to automate dice rolls on IRC, that's what most online RPGs I've seen have used, and there are several that can just be downloaded and used, "just like that." Have a google.

As promised (now I'm back at my desk). If anybody's looking for the book: here it is!

I take it is fairly easy to set up a dedicated IRC room for the ninja burger game?

Also I was intending to use the newer set of rules, rather than the orginal you've posted

Sure. Have downloaded them too, now. Will post.

Setting up a rule is as easy as - in fact it's identical to - joining one. Just /join #ninjaburger and if it doesn't exist, you'll have created it.

You don't even strictly *need* to register a nickname. Just log in with one that nobody's already registered. But if you do want to register one (on Freenode), type /msg nickserv help for instructions, or google it.

All you really need to know is to tell your IRC client which server to connect to (irc.freenode.net) and what nickname you want.

And if even that's too much like work, just use the good old Java interface that used to be on RockMonkey but now lives at chat.abnib.co.uk.

Ooh, I've just remembered; there's instructions on getting a "proper" IRC client and configuring it on chat.abnib.co.uk, too!
